Tim Hutton

Tim is an acclaimed multi-instrumentalist, producer, songwriter and artist who has left a lasting mark on the music landscape of the 1990s and 2000s.

He launched his career as part of electro-funk outfit The Neighbourhood, whose album A Certain Attitude was released via Parlophone in 1988 with songs almost exclusively penned by Tim. Following the band’s split, he embarked on a solo career with the release of The Conscious Kind on the influential independent label Some Bizarre.

The next few years saw Tim involved in techno, house, and electronic releases with various collaborators under different guises such as Vulva, Yoni and Soul Ascendants. During this period, he also completed a second solo album entitled Everything, before experiencing his major commercial breakthrough with his contributions to Groove Armada’s 2001 album Goodbye Country, Hello Nightclub (UK #5, ARIA #8). Tim co-wrote three standout tracks on the gold-certified release – “Drifted”, “Tuning In” and “Join Hands”.

From here, Tim’s career went from strength to strength, as he had further cuts (including #8 UK Singles Chart hit “Song for Mutya (Out of Control)”) with Groove Armada (later launching the side project Sugardaddy with one half of the duo, Tom Findlay) and established a hugely successful association with The Prodigy, featuring on a number of tracks on their albums Invaders Must Die and The Day Is My Enemy. The band’s platinum-certified single, “Omen”, co-written by Tim and peaked at #4 on the UK Singles Chart in 2009.

Tim’s songwriting quality and musicianship also brought about an association with Ian Brown, with whom he developed a seven-year creative partnership. During this period, Tim contributed to Brown’s projects through co-writes (including “Time Is My Everything” (UK Singles Chart #15) for the album Solarised) and performing brass, bass, guitar and drums both in the studio and on tour.

Tim continues to be involved in multiple artistic projects, in particular maintaining a long-standing relationship with Dub Pistols that began in 2014.
