Songwriter and producer Nigel Lowis is best known for his 30-year association with soul singer Dina Carroll and has sold over 17 million records during the course of his prestigious career.
In 1993, Nigel co-wrote and produced 10 songs on Dina Carroll’s BRIT award-winning debut album ‘So Close’ (UK #2), including UK Top 20 hits “Ain’t No Man”, “Express” and “So Close”. The 4x Platinum-selling record stayed in the Top 20 of the UK Albums Chart for six months, was shortlisted for the Mercury Music Prize and ended up as that year’s fourth best-selling LP in the UK. The pair’s collaboration continued and in 1996 they co-wrote six songs on Dina’s second record, ‘Only Human’, which again reached #2 in the UK Albums Chart.
Around the same time as his partnership with Dina Carroll, Nigel had releases with pop soloist Engelbert Humperdink and R&B group Eternal. He also co-wrote four tracks on Louise Nurding’s platinum-selling sophomore album, ‘Woman in Me’, released by EMI in 1997 (UK #5).
2023 will see the release of the Dina Carroll 30th anniversary box set.
