Roots Rocker Comes to President

President Records is an independent record company known for signing an array of successful artists such as The Equals and KC & The Sunshine Band throughout its renowned 63-year history. As part of the Kassner Music group of companies, the catalogue today includes albums by Rick Wakeman, Matata and Robots In Disguise as well as timeless hits “Shout Shout (Knock Yourself Out)” and “Bobby’s Girl”.

The company now welcomes Welsh rock’n’roll legend Dave Edmunds to its roster, having purchased the master rights to the four albums which he released at his peak between 1977 and 1981- “Get It”, “Trax on Wax 4”, “Repeat When Necessary” and “Twangin’”.

As a producer and artist, Edmunds has led an illustrious career, collaborating with industry greats such as Sir Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Keith Richards, the Stray Cats and Bruce Springsteen, in addition to many of his own musical heroes including Carl Perkins, Chuck Berry, Chet Atkins, Les Paul and all-time favourites The Everly Brothers.

Edmunds wore his 50s rock ‘n’ roll, r&b, and country rock influences on his sleeve. He blended these musical stylings with classic songs penned by his contemporaries Elvis Costello, Nick Lowe, Graham Parker and Mickey Jupp, instantly creating an identifiable sound to lasting effect.

President Records, who had previously acquired the North American rights to Edmunds’ 1970 chart topper “I Hear You Knocking” (UK #1, Billboard Hot 100 #4), will promote their newly-owned Edmunds masters through various avenues, with worldwide reissues, digital campaigns and sync marketing all planned.

Manager of President Records, Mark Stratford, said ” We are very proud to have agreed this deal with Dave, having been long-time fans of his music. These albums were once part of the close knit Led Zeppelin owned Swan Song label which Dave considered his rock’n’roll family home for years, and we are delighted that since that label no longer exists Dave has now chosen President Records as his new rock’n’roll family home.”
Chart hits from the albums include: “I Knew The Bride” (UK #26), “Girls Talk” (UK #4), “Queen of Hearts” (UK #11), “Singing The Blues” (UK #28) and “The Race Is On” (UK #34).
