Kassner Music is excited to announce that it has signed L.A. based British songwriter, producer and mixer Phil Gornell to an exclusive worldwide publishing deal.
Phil has spent over a decade producing, writing, engineering and mixing records for some of the biggest names in pop and rock music. His versatility has led him to write across genres and with a variety of transatlantic artists.
Phil cut his teeth touring the world doing live sound for prominent rock acts Bring Me The Horizon, New Found Glory and Five Seconds of Summer before coming back to the UK to set up his own recording studio, the renowned Steel City in his hometown of Sheffield. Here he engineered an album for Bring Me The Horizon and co-wrote and produced Deaf Havana’s UK top 3 LP, ‘Rituals’.
Moving to L.A. in 2019, Phil began work on numerous new projects which included collaborating with famed US pop-punk band All Time Low, co-writing and producing 7 tracks on their album, ‘Wake Up, Sunshine’ (Billboard Rock #1, OCC #3), released in April 2020 and more recently, working with Against The Current, Phil Good and nothing.nowhere.
Brian Mahoney, Head of A&R at Kassner Music said: “Phil is an incredible talent with a fantastic work ethic to match. He’s an exceptional songwriter and we are hugely ambitious for what Phil and his team can achieve. It’s an honour to work with him and I’m excited for what the future holds.”
Pip Newby, Phil’s manager at Friends vs Music, discusses the deal: “It’s not often that a writer/publisher relationship gels as quickly as it has done with Phil and the team at Kassner. Honestly, it’d be hard to hope for much more in terms of shared vision, ambition and proactive outlook. Phil’s an incredible talent who still has a lot to prove and we’ve got total confidence in Kassner’s ability to help us grow his profile, develop his career and do some serious damage.”
Phil Gornell on signing to Kassner: “With such a rich history and amazing team, I am beyond honoured to be joining the Kassner team. I’ve already got such an exciting relationship with Brian, now I can’t wait to start collaborating and working with the rest of the songwriters and Kassner team. They have such an eye for detail and a razor-sharp vision for progress, that I can’t wait to see what we can do together.”
