Kassner Music is excited to announce that it has signed songwriter, producer and artist Simon Dine to an exclusive worldwide publishing deal.
Having begun his music career as a journalist and label A&R in the late eighties, Simon’s first foray into releasing his own records was as a member of John Peel favourites, Adventures in Stereo. In 1998, Simon launched his artist project, Noonday Underground, primarily in collaboration with the incredible singer Daisy Martey, and they soon became popular on the mod scene around the world. Receiving critical acclaim for their unique sound, their songs were placed in film and TV.
Simon then went onto co-write and produce an album with Liverpool vocalist, Candie Payne, before embarking on many successful years of collaboration with Paul Weller, co-writing and co-producing four hit albums; ‘Illumination’ (2002, UK #1), ‘22 Dreams’ (2008, UK #1), ‘Wake Up The Nation’ (2010, UK #2 and Mercury Prize nomination) and ‘Sonik Kicks’ (2012, UK #1), of which ‘Wake Up The Nation’ is being reissued by Universal on 27th November 2020.
Simon has written with the likes of Kevin Rowland, Mike Scott, Jimi Goodwin and Trashcan Sinatras and earlier this year he co-wrote The Spitfires’ ‘Life Worth Living’ album for Acid Jazz. He is currently collaborating with The Spitfires once again as well as working on a project with fellow Kassner Music writer Nathaniel Hall from The Jungle Brothers.
Simon’s music has secured him an array of sync placements and 2020 saw Netflix’s No.1 trending US rom com, The Kissing Booth 2, feature his song “Piece of the Pie”.
Brian Mahoney, Head of A&R at Kassner Music, said of the deal: “Simon and I have known each other for many years and I’ve never stopped being impressed by his talent and creativity as a songwriter, producer and artist. I’m delighted to be working with Simon again and confident that, together with the team at Kassner, we will enjoy even more success over the coming years.”
Simon Dine commented: “I am really looking forward to working with Brian and all the team at Kassner Music on the next stage of my career. Brian is well respected; I trust his A&R instinct and share his enthusiasm for creating great songs.”
