Glovebox Songs Takes over the Full Song Catalogue of Mississippi MacDonald

Kassner Music client Glovebox Songs has acquired the rights to all six Mississippi MacDonald albums plus his brand-new LP, ‘Do Right, Say Right’, due to be released on 19th November. “I Was Wrong” is the most recent single from the upcoming record, out now on all streaming platforms.

The London-based soul and blues artist has been nominated three times in the British Blues Awards, hit the top spot in the Independent Blues Broadcasters Association’s charts and garnered the support from Paul Jones of BBC Radio 2, Blues Magazine in The Netherlands and Washington State Blues Society.

To date, MacDonald’s wide-ranging musical journey has consisted of meeting B.B. King, Pinetop Perkins, Otis Clay and Sam Moore, visiting Willie Mitchell’s Royal Studios in Memphis (where classic Hi Label songs were recorded) and joining Al Green’s congregation to hear him preach. He has witnessed Jerry Lee Lewis kick over his piano stool and Big Joe Turner told him to listen to Albert King. In 2008, he was a prime mover in getting a stone laid for the previously unmarked grave of soul legend O.V. Wright.

You can hear these experiences imbued in MacDonald’s songwriting and chronicled in the evolution of his albums. “It celebrates a fantastic tradition. It’s soul-blues, and you’ve got to put your best into it. It’s modern, not musical archaeology”, says the musician of his music.

Currently, MacDonald is preparing for his album launch on 30th November at the 100 Club, in support of The Cinelli Brothers. He also continues to perform with his band comprised of members Phil Dearing (rhythm guitar/producer), Elliot Boughen (bass) and Mark Johnson-Brown (drums).
