The Wholls are a Bedford-based 4 piece who play alternative rock music and have a sound that sits equally as comfortably on mainstream radio along with the likes of Wolf Alice, Royal Blood and Nothing But Thieves. Their live shows would make punk rock look like a picnic – performed with an enthusiasm and energy rivalled by nobody.
The band have been playlisted on Radio 1 Feb 2016, Radio X ROTW, Virgin Radio ROTW, Bayhern 3 Germany ROTW, German FM stations and received spot plays in the UK. Spotify streams are in excess of 2 million and additions to Spotify curated playlists include “Rock Rotation” [#1 position held w/c 05/02/18] (185k followers); “Rock United” (35k followers) and “Walk Like A Badass” (380k followers).
In 2016 The Wholls were asked to perform on the BBC Introducing stage at Reading Festival and were hailed as Radio 1’s ‘Best Of’ Reading Festival 2016. Setting their sites for the European market the band flew out to Germany in September of that year to perform the Reeperbahn Festival. With a small, low-budget student radio campaign in place they totally packed out the Hamburg venue, with a queue round the block of 300+ people who could not get in.
2017 kicked off with a European tour alongside Royal Republic, taking in venues across the continent packed with up to 3,000 people. They returned to Germany in May 2017 to perform a residency at Sage Club, which by the final week was sold out.
Their blinding live performances saw them take in numerous stages in 2017 – part of This Feeling & Jack Daniel’s ‘Jack 7’ for 2017 playing all TF/JD festival stages; main support at Bedford Park for The Kaiser Chiefs and Feeder; The Isle of Wight, The Great Escape, TRNSMT, Y-Not, Reading, Wilkestock (BBC Introducing), Sound of the Forest (Germany) and Kazoopa (Headline).
