RAY DAVIES DUETS ALBUM “SEE MY FRIENDS” NOW AVAILABLE8 November 2010
The eagerly awaited See My Friends goes on sale today, featuring collaborations between Ray Davies| and some of the most highly respected artists in contemporary popular music.
The album sees Davies and his guests create fresh interpretations of some of his most beloved compositions, including four published by the Kassner Music Group. Davies gives You Really Got Me YOU REALLY GOT ME by RAYMOND DAVIES| a ferocious reworking alongside Metallica, combines with Spoon to provide a suitably dreamy rendition of title track See My Friends SEE MY FRIENDS by RAYMOND DAVIES|, partners with Gary Lightbody of Snow Patrol to vocal perfection on Tired of Waiting TIRED OF WAITING FOR YOU by RAYMOND DAVIES| and then unleashes hell with Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins with an extraordinary medley ALL DAY AND ALL OF THE NIGHT by RAYMOND DAVIES| of All Day and All of the Night and Destroyer.
The project was kick-started in summer 2009 by a collaboration between Davies and the late Big Star vocalist Alex Chilton, whose recording on the album sadly represents his last performance, and developed organically from there. As Davies explains: “I write songs. Originally it was a way to express myself and give my band The Kinks material to record. After a while the songs took a life of their own as the world discovered them. Now when I meet other artists most of them who know my work have a favourite Kinks song. I decided it would be a natural progression to collaborate with some of these artists.”
