‘Shake A Tail Feather’ in the new West End hit show, Tina: The Musical

The much anticipated Tina Turner musical received its world premiere in London on 17th April 2018 at the Aldwych Theatre in the West End and opened to terrific reviews.

From humble beginnings in Nutbush, Tennessee, to her transformation into the global Queen of Rock’n’Roll, the new stage musical reveals the untold story of Tina Turner who defied the boundaries of race, gender and age to go on to be one of the best-selling artists of all time.

Written by Olivier Award-winning playwright Katori Hall, whose play The Mountaintop about the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. gained notoriety on both sides of the Atlantic, the show will be directed by the internationally acclaimed Mamma Mia! director Phyllida Lloyd and is produced by Stage Entertainment.

Featuring Tina’s much-loved songs, Kassner Music is delighted to announce the inclusion of ‘Shake A Tail Feather’, the smash-hit soul song released by Ike and Tina Turner with the Ikettes in 1971.

‘Shake A Tail Feather’, written by Otha Hayes, Verlie Rice, and Andre Williams, was originally recorded in 1963 by the Chicago based group, The Five Du-Tones. The song has been covered by many artists over the years with a world-renowned version by Ray Charles being performed in the 1980 film The Blue Brothers.

“This joyful, lungs-bursting show is simply the best!” reviewed The Daily Telegraph and The Times praised the musical stating “A raw musical triumph. This show has heart, soul, and more than a bit of rock’n’roll”. We suggest you go and see it now!
